2002 Chrysler Voyager ECFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Ambient Temperature Sensor Circuit Open

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TESTΒ  under VERIFICATION TESTS.
  1. Using scan tool, record and erase DTCs. Turn ignition off. Wait 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Operate power liftgate several times. Recheck for DTCs. If AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN resets, go to next step. If AMBIENT TEMPERATURE SENSOR CIRCUIT OPEN does not reset, system is operating properly at this time. Check for intermittent poor connections or faulty circuits.
  2. Disconnect Power Liftgate Module (PLGM) connector C2. See Fig 1. To access connector, left rear trim will need to be removed. See POWER LIFTGATE MODULEΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminals No. 16 (Violet/Light Blue wire) and No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure. If resistance is not 1.2-382 k/ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 1.2-382 k/ohms, replace PLGM.
  3. Disconnect license plate light connector. See Fig 2. To access connector, door panel will need to be removed. For removal and installation procedures, see POWER SLIDING DOOR MODULEΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Using DVOM, measure resistance of Violet/Light Blue wire between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 16 and license plate light connector terminal No. 7. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet/Light Blue wire.
  4. Using DVOM, measure resistance between PLGM connector C2 terminal No. 20 (Black/Light Green wire) and license plate light connector terminal No. 8 (Black/Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace ambient temperature sensor (part of license plate light assembly). If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in ground circuit between PLGM and license plate light. See POWER DOOR LOCKS in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
