VTSS Will Not Arm

NOTE: After making any repairs, perform VEHICLE THEFT SECURITY SYSTEM VERIFICATION TESTΒ  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

  • Check The VTSS Status
  • Check The BCM For DTC's
  • Body Control Module - No Alarm Output

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read THEFT ALARM status. If scan tool displays ENABLED, go to next step. If scan tool does not display ENABLED, enable Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS).
  2. Using scan tool, retrieve Body Control Module (BCM) DTCs. If any DTCs exist, perform appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE IDENTIFICATIONΒ  table under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. If no DTCs exist, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULEΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
