Driver Thermistor Out Of Range Low
NOTE:
After making any repairs, perform MEMORY HEATED SYSTEM VERIFICATION TESTΒ
under VERIFICATION TESTS.
Monitored & Set Condition
- When Monitored: Ignition on, during the heated seat operation.
- Set Condition: This code is immediately set when the Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module senses a lesser value than the value stored in EEPROM.
Possible Causes:
- Driver Seat Temp Sensor Input Open
- Driver Seat Temp Sensor Input Short To Ground
- Driver Seat Heater Sensor Open
- Driver Seat Temp Sensor Short To Ground
- Seat Temperature 5-Volt Wire Open
- Driver Seat Temperature 5-Volt Supply Short To Ground
- Memory Heated Seat Mirror Module
- Memory Heated Seat Mirror Module
Testing
- Turn ignition on. Raise driver seat to highest position to gain access to seat components and connectors. Turn ignition off. Disconnect driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector. Turn ignition on. Turn driver heated seat switch on. Measure voltage between ground and driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "D", driver seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Dark Green wire). See Figure . If voltage is 4.5 volts or more, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If voltage is less than 4.5 volts, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to step Β 6 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C1. Measure resistance of driver seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Light Blue wire) between driver heated seat cushion connector terminal "C" and MHSMM connector C1 terminal No. 4. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in Tan/Light Blue wire.
- Measure resistance between ground and driver heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "C", driver seat temperature sensor input circuit. See Figure . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace driver heated seat cushion. See POWER SEATS article.
- Disconnect MHSMM connector C1. Measure resistance between ground and driver heated seat cushion connector terminal "C", driver seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Tan/Light Blue wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector disconnected and go to next step.
- Measure resistance between driver heated seat cushion connector (component side) terminal "C", driver seat temperature sensor input circuit (Tan/Light Blue wire) and terminal "D", driver seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Dark Green wire). If resistance is less than 70 k/ohms, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULEΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 70 k/ohms or more, replace driver heated seat cushion. See POWER SEATS article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Memory Heated Seat/Mirror Module (MHSMM) connector C2. Measure resistance between ground and driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "D", driver seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Dark Green wire). See Figure . If resistance is less than 100 ohms, repair short to ground in Black/Dark Green wire. If resistance is 100 ohms or more, leave driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector and MHSMM connector C2 disconnected and go to next step.
- Measure resistance of driver seat temperature 5-volt supply circuit (Black/Dark Green wire) between driver heated seat cushion 4-pin connector terminal "D" and MHSMM connector C2 terminal No. 15. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace MHSMM. See MEMORY HEATED SEAT/MIRROR MODULEΒ under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Black/Dark Green wire.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- β’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- β’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- β’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- β’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- β’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
