WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY VERIFICATION TESTΒ  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Possible Causes:

  • Check The Fuel Gauge Operation
  • Perform Instrument Cluster Self-Test

Testing

  1. Start engine and observe fuel gauge operation. If fuel gauge operates properly, go to next step. If fuel gauge does not operate properly, perform FUEL GAUGE NOT OPERATING PROPERLYΒ  test.
  2. To start bulb test, turn ignition off, then on. Observe low fuel indicator. If low fuel indicator does not illuminate for 3-10 seconds, replace instrument cluster. See ANALOG INSTRUMENT PANELS - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If low fuel indicator illuminates for 3-10 seconds, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ  . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
