OTIS Screen Displays "FAIL"

Testing

Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, perform AUTO SELF-TEST while observing Overhead Travel Information System (OTIS) display. If OTIS displays FAIL, replace OTIS module. See OVERHEAD CONSOLES - CONCORDE, INTREPID & 300M article. If OTIS does not display FAIL, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.

When to See a Mechanic

Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

• You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.

• Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.

• The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.

• You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.

• You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
