Battery Power To Module Disconnected

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Dodge Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Intrepid, 2002 Chrysler Concorde, and 2002 Chrysler 300M. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: After making any repairs, perform BODY CONTROL MODULES SYSTEM VERIFICATION TESTΒ  under VERIFICATION TESTS.

Monitored & Set Condition

  1. When Monitored: With the ignition on.
  2. Set Condition: The BCM receives ignition on voltage, but no battery power feed.

Possible Causes:

  • Verifying Active DTC
  • Fused B+ Circuit - Junction Block
  • Body Control Module

Testing

  1. Turn ignition off. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, clear DTCs. Turn ignition off, then on. Using scan tool, retrieve DTCs. If BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECTED DTC resets, go to next step. If BATTERY POWER TO MODULE DISCONNECTED DTC does not reset, fault may be intermittent. Check related wiring and connectors for poor connections or damage to wiring harness. See WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ  . Repair any problems found as necessary. If no problems are found, check if any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) apply to vehicle. If no TSBs apply, test is complete.
  2. Turn ignition off. Remove Body Control Module (BCM) from back of junction block. Turn ignition on. Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe terminal No. 7 at BCM connector on back of junction block. See Figure and Figure . If test light illuminates, replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULEΒ  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. If test light does not illuminate, go to next step.
  3. Check operation of courtesy lights. If courtesy lights operate, replace junction block. See JUNCTION BLOCKΒ  . If courtesy lights do not operate, go to next step.
  4. Remove and inspect fuse No. 19 (15-amp) in junction block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is open, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
  5. Check voltage to fuse No. 19 (15-amp) in junction block. If battery voltage exists, replace junction block. See JUNCTION BLOCKΒ  . If battery voltage does not exist, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION in appropriate SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAMS article in ELECTRICAL.
