2000 Chrysler Intrepid BaseFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE
Wiper Not Working In High Speed
- Turn ignition off. Remove wiper high/low relay from power distribution center. Using a fused jumper wire, connect terminals "A" and "D" at wiper high/low relay socket in power distribution center. See Figure . If wipers operate in high speed, go to next step. If wipers do not operate in high speed, go to step Β 6 .
- Remove jumper wire. Install a known-good wiper high/low relay in power distribution center. Turn ignition on. Operate wiper in high and low speed positions. If wipers does not operate properly, go to next step. If wipers operate properly, replace wiper high/low relay.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect wiper/washer switch harness connector at multifunction switch. Measure resistance between terminals No. 1 and 3 at wiper/washer switch (component side). See Figure . Resistance should be 480-540 ohms with wiper switch in high speed position. If resistance is as specified, go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace wiper/washer switch.
- Remove wiper high/low relay from power distribution center. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) harness connector C3. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage at terminal No. 12 (Violet wire) at BCM harness connector C3. See Figure . If no voltage exists, go to next step. If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Violet wire between junction block and BCM.
- Turn ignition off. Measure resistance in Violet wire between terminal "C" at wiper high/low relay socket in power distribution center and terminal No. 12 at BCM harness connector C3. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace BCM. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Violet wire between high/low relay and BCM.
- Remove jumper wire. Connect a test light between ground and terminal "A" at wiper high/low relay socket in power distribution center. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
- Disconnect wiper motor harness connector. Measure resistance in Red/Yellow wire between terminal "D" at wiper high/low relay socket in power distribution center and terminal No. 1 at wiper motor harness connector. See Figure and Figure . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Red/Yellow wire between wiper motor and power distribution center.
- Measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) at wiper motor harness connector. If resistance is greater than 100 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 100 ohms or less, repair short to ground in Red/Yellow wire between wiper motor and power distribution center.
- Measure voltage at terminal No. 1 (Red/Yellow wire) at wiper motor harness connector. If no voltage exists, replace wiper motor. If any voltage exists, repair short to voltage in Red/Yellow wire between wiper motor and power distribution center.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:
- β’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- β’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- β’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- β’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- β’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
