Power & Ground Circuits

  1. Disconnect PCM. PCM is located on left side of engine compartment, near PDC. Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 67 of PCM connector A-78 (Red/White wire). See Fig 1 . Turn ignition on. Check for batteryvoltage at PCM connector A-77, terminal No. 6 (Black/Red wire). Battery voltage should exist when jumper wire is grounded. If battery voltage does not exist, check for faulty ASD relay or circuits between ASD relay and PCM. See AUTO SHUTDOWN (ASD) RELAY & FUEL PUMP RELAYΒ  under MOTORS, RELAYS & SOLENOIDS. If battery voltage exists, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between ground and PCM connector A-77, terminals No. 10, 47 and 50 (Black wires). See Fig 1 . If continuity does not exist, repair open ground circuit. If continuity exists, go to next step.
  3. Check for battery voltage at PCM connector A-78, terminal No. 46 (Red/Black wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit to battery. If battery voltage exists, turn ignition on. Check for battery voltage at PCM connector A-78, terminal No. 20 (Black/White wire). If battery voltage does not exist, repair open circuit to ignition switch. If battery voltage exists, power and ground circuits are okay.
