1993 Chrysler ImperialFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE
Test 93A - Body Control Module No Response
NOTE:
For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATIONΒ
. For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMSΒ
at end of article.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black connector. BCM is located behind right side kick panel. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance of Violet/Brown wire between bus data link connector and terminal No. 7 of BCM Black connector. Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus data link connector is located on left kick panel, near hood release handle. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Violet/Brown wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, check resistance of White/Black wire between bus data link connector and BCM Black connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open White/Black wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in ohmmeter mode. Check resistance on terminal No. 19 (Black/Light Green wire) of BCM Black connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open Black/Light Green wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is less than 5 ohms, put DRB-II in voltmeter mode. Turn ignition on (engine off). Check voltage on terminal No. 6 (Dark Blue/White wire) of BCM Black connector. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace BCM. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If voltage is less than 10 volts, remove and inspect fuse No. 8 from fuse block. See Figure . If fuse No. 8 is okay, check voltage of Dark Blue wire (in fuse block) of fuse No. 8. If voltage is more than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue/White wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open Dark Blue wire. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If fuse No. 8 is blown, turn ignition off. Disconnect electronic or mechanical instrument cluster. Using DRB-II in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Dark Blue/White wire (in fuse block) of fuse No. 8. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Dark Blue/White wire and replace fuse No. 8. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect BCM. Check resistance of Dark Blue/White wire (in fuse block) of fuse No. 8. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace BCM and fuse No. 8. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.
- If resistance is more than 5 ohms, reconnect instrument cluster and replace fuse No. 8. Turn ignition on (engine off). Remove and inspect fuse No. 8. If fuse No. 8 is blown, replace instrument cluster and fuse No. 8. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1. If fuse No. 8 is okay, repair is complete. Perform VERIFICATION PROCEDURE VER-1.

- β’ You smell fuel, burning insulation, or see smoke.
- β’ Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- β’ The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
- β’ You are missing required tools, torque specs, or safe lifting equipment.
- β’ You are not confident in the next step or safety outcome.
