Emission Control

1984 Chrysler Laser Base, 2.2 D, AutomaticSECTION Emission Control

The logic module controls the purge and EGR solenoids. When engine temperature reaches 145°F (61°C), the logic module de-energizes the purge solenoid. When de-energized, ported vacuum flows to canister urge valve and fuel vapors vent to throttle body.

The EGR solenoid is operated in the same manner when engine temperature reaches 70°F (21°C). No EGR occurs during idle or wide open throttle (WOT).
