Using scan tool in Serial Data Link (SDL) Monitor Mode, check Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC)-to-PCM status. Scan tool should read: VTD MODING = NOT SET, REVERSE ROTATE = INACTIVE and VTD PASSWORD = NOT RECEIVE. Check PCM-to-IPC status. Scan tool should read: VTD ACKNOWLEDGE = NO, VTD TAMPER = INACTIVE and REFERENCE SYNC = NOT SYNC.
  2. Put gearshift in Park (A/T) or depress clutch pedal (M/T). Turn ignition switch to START position. Theft system warning light should remain lit. Using scan tool in SDL Monitor Mode, check IPC-to-PCM status. Scan tool should read: VTD MODING = NOT SET, REVERSE ROTATE = ACTIVE and VTD PASSWORD = NOT RECEIVE. Check PCM-to-IPC status. Scan tool should read: VTD ACKNOWLEDGE = NO, VTD TAMPER = INACTIVE and REFERENCE SYNC = NOT SYNC.
  3. Put gearshift in Park (A/T) or depress clutch pedal (M/T). Release ignition switch to RUN position (engine running). Theft system warning light should turn off. Using scan tool in SDL Monitor Mode, check IPC-to-PCM status. Scan tool should read: VTD MODING = SET, REVERSE ROTATE = INACTIVE and VTD PASSWORD = RECEIVE. Check PCM-to-IPC status. Scan tool should read: VTD ACKNOW-LEDGE = YES, VTD TAMPER = INACTIVE and REFERENCE SYNC = SYNC.
