Wiper Motor Current Draw Test
- Remove wiper fuse. Connect an ammeter with 30-amp or greater range across fuse terminals. Turn ignition switch to RUN position and wiper switch to HI position. Ammeter reading will fluctuate. Observe lowest reading.
- If ammeter reading is less than 5 amps, replace wiper motor assembly. If ammeter reading is greater than 5 amps, replace wiper blades and repeat test. If ammeter reading is now less than 5 amps, wiper blades were defective.
- If reading is still greater than 5 amps, disconnect linkage from motor crank and repeat test. If ammeter reading is less than 5 amps, linkage is binding. If ammeter reading is greater than 5 amps, replace wiper motor assembly.
