Chart C-10, 2.2L (1 Of 2), A/C Clutch CTRL CKT Diagnosis: Notes
A/C clutch control relay is energized when ECM provides a ground through circuit No. 459 and A/C is requested. A/C clutch is delayed approximately .3 second after A/C is requested. This allows Idle Air Control (IAC) to adjust engine RPM for additional load. ECM will temporarily disengage A/C clutch relay for calibrated times for one or more of following conditions:
- Hot engine restart.
- Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
- Engine RPM more than approximately 5025 RPM.
- During Idle Air Control (IAC) reset.
- ECM will only energize A/C relay when engine is running. This test will determine if relay or circuit No. 459 is faulty.
- Determines if signal is reaching ECM through circuit No. 66 from A/C control panel. Signal should only be present when A/C mode or defrost mode is selected.
