Steering Column Control Module
After replacement of steering column module, it is necessary to program tilt/telescoping soft stops. Each soft stop is a programmable end of travel that is set approximately 0.5 inch (1.3 cm) from mechanical end of travel to prevent wear on mechanical components.
- Turn ignition to on, engine off.
- To set tilt up soft stop, press tilt/telescoping COLUMN UP switch at least eight times or until column moves, then release switch.
- Press tilt/telescoping COLUMN UP switch and hold until column travels all the way up, and continue to hold switch about a second after motion stops at the mechanical end of travel. Soft stop for column up position is now set. The tilt/telescoping module will automatically go back to normal mode of operation.
- Repeat steps Β 2 and Β 3 , using COLUMN DOWN switch, to set column down position soft stop.
- Repeat steps Β 2 and Β 3 , using COLUMN OUT switch, to set column out position soft stop.
- Repeat steps Β 2 and Β 3 , using COLUMN IN switch, to set column in position soft stop.
