Non-DIS Ignition System

1994 BMW 318is AutomaticSECTION Non-DIS Ignition System
  1. Always disconnect battery or ground cable (located on right rear seat frame) when working on electrical systems, charging battery or welding.
  2. Load secondary (high voltage) side of ignition system with at least 4000 ohms. DO NOT connect a shielded capacitor or test light to coil terminal No. 1. DO NOT connect lead of ignition coil terminal No. 1 to ground or battery voltage.
  3. When checking compression, remove Digital Motor Electronics (DME) master relay. DO NOT disconnect lead of ignition coil terminal No. 1 to prevent engine from starting. DO NOT disconnect battery or leads on alternator or starter while engine is running.
