Oxygen (O2) Sensor R & I
1992 BMW 735iSECTION Oxygen (O2) Sensor R & I
- Remove oxygen sensor connector from holder and disconnect. Remove 2 nuts securing oxygen sensor lead. On automatic transmission equipped vehicles, remove 3 nuts and lift out holder securing exhaust pipe.
- Support exhaust pipes with stands and remove rubber holders. Loosen exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold flange nuts. Loosen nuts on exhaust muffler and lower exhaust assembly far enough to access oxygen sensor. On all models, remove oxygen sensor.
- To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat threads with anti-seize compound and install. Tighten oxygen sensor to 40 ft. lbs. (55 N.m). Tighten exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold flange nuts to 52 INCH lbs. (6 N.m). Tighten exhaust pipe holder nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m).
