1992 BMW 735iSECTION Oxygen (O2) Sensor R & I
  1. Remove oxygen sensor connector from holder and disconnect. Remove 2 nuts securing oxygen sensor lead. On automatic transmission equipped vehicles, remove 3 nuts and lift out holder securing exhaust pipe.
  2. Support exhaust pipes with stands and remove rubber holders. Loosen exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold flange nuts. Loosen nuts on exhaust muffler and lower exhaust assembly far enough to access oxygen sensor. On all models, remove oxygen sensor.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Coat threads with anti-seize compound and install. Tighten oxygen sensor to 40 ft. lbs. (55 N.m). Tighten exhaust pipe-to-exhaust manifold flange nuts to 52 INCH lbs. (6 N.m). Tighten exhaust pipe holder nuts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m).
