Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module
-- If control module is replaced, select "Replacement" function for appropriate control module in "Guided Fault-Finding" routine using the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051.
Removing
-- Disconnect battery ground wire. Refer to [For engine(s) CBRA, BPY, CCTA, CBFA] Removal and Installation .
-- Observe airbag system safety precautions. Refer to General Information .
-- Remove the steering wheel. Refer to Removal and Installation .
-- Remove steering column switch module. Refer to FASTENER TIGHTENING SPECIFICATIONS .
-- Remove bolt -arrow- (2 Nm) below spiral spring.
The Steering Column Electronic Systems Control Module -J527- is secure to steering column module with two spring retainers.
-- Release springs -1- and -2- with a small screwdriver.
-- Remove steering column electronic systems control module downward from steering column module.
Installing
-- Observe airbag system safety precautions. Refer to General Information .
-- Install in reverse order of removal.
-- Make sure that all connections have engaged and lines lie in proper guides.
