Engine Speed (Rpm) Sensor Bracket

1996 Audi A4 Base, StandardSECTION Engine Speed (Rpm) Sensor Bracket
NOTE: DO NOTΒ  arbitrarily change bracket adjustment. Engine speed (RPM) sensor bracket is adjusted during vehicle assembly and should not be changed. If adjustment was changed, perform following procedure.
  1. Rotate engine crankshaft by hand to Top Dead Center (TDC) position. See Fig 1 . Remove Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor from left side of cylinder block. Look and feel for TDC hole in crankshaft through opening in block. Thread crankshaft Holder (3242) into CKP sensor opening and tighten slightly. See Fig 2 .
  2. Remove engine speed (RPM) sensor and heat shield from left side of cylinder block. Loosen engine speed (RPM) sensor bracket. Install Adjuster (3308). See Fig 3 . Ensure adjuster engages teeth in ring gear. Tighten engine speed (RPM) sensor bracket. Remove adjuster. Install engine speed (RPM) sensor and attach heat shield. Remove holder and install CKP sensor on left side of cylinder block.
