1999 Acura 2.3CL StandardFACTORY OEM SERVICE PROCEDURE

Integra (A/T)

  1. Remove intake air duct from throttle body. Ensure engine coolant temperature is less than 86Β°F (30Β°C). Start engine and allow to idle. Place finger over lower port in throttle body. See Fig 1. If airflow is present at lower port in throttle body, go to next step. If airflow is not present, replace fast idle thermovalve and recheck for symptom.
  2. Start engine and run at 3000 RPM, with no loads and transmission in Park or Neutral, until radiator fan comes on. Allow engine to idle. Fast idle thermovalve should be completely closed. Place finger over lower port in throttle body. If vacuum is felt or engine idle speed decreases, fast idle thermovalve is leaking. Ensure engine coolant level is correct and cooling system is free of air. If okay, replace fast idle thermovalve and recheck for symptom.
