Steering Column Switch Test
Disable air bag system. See appropriate AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. Remove steering column covers. See STEERING COLUMN COVERS under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect steering column switch 7-pin connector and remove switch from steering column lower cover. See Fig 1. Using an ohmmeter, verify continuity is as specified in STEERING COLUMN SWITCH CONTINUITY table. If switch fails any test, replace faulty switch.

When to See a Mechanic
Stop DIY work and contact a certified mechanic immediately if any of the following apply:

- • Brakes feel soft, pull hard to one side, or make grinding noises.
- • The engine overheats, stalls repeatedly, or misfires under load.
