Code 15: Ignition Output Signal

  1. Turn ignition off. Remove fuse No. 15 (ACG) fuse from underdash fuse box for 10 seconds to reset ECU. Check ECU for fault codes. See RETRIEVING CODESΒ  . If Code 15 is not present, problem is intermittent. Check for poor connections at ECU and ignitor unit connectors. Test drive vehicle and retest.
  2. If Code 15 is present, turn ignition off. Disconnect 8-wire connector from ignitor unit. Using an ohmmeter, check for continuity between terminal "C" and terminal "F". See Fig 1 . If continuity is not present, repair open in Black wire(s) between ground terminal G102 and 8-wire connector.

  3. If continuity is present, disconnect 6-wire connector from ignitor unit. See Fig 2 . Connect ECU Test Harness (07LAJ-PT3010A ) between ECU and ECU connector. See Figure . Check for continuity between body ground and test terminals A21, A22, B3, B4, B6 and B8. If continuity is present at any terminal, repair short circuit.
  4. If continuity is not present, check for continuity between ignitor unit 6-wire connector terminal and corresponding terminal at ECU connector. See ECU/IGNITOR UNIT CONNECTOR TERMINAL IDENTIFICATIONΒ  table. If continuity is not present, repair open circuit. If continuity is present, substitute a known good ignitor. If symptom/condition goes away, replace original ignitor. If symptom/condition does not go away, substitute a known good ECU. If symptom/condition goes away, replace original ECU.
