Chevrolet Traverse serpentine belt routing

There is no one Traverse belt route or tensioner direction for every year and engine. Chevrolet's 2018 owner guide shows separate 2.0L and 3.6L routing figures. In the checked service examples, the 3.6L tensioner turns clockwise, while the redesigned 2024 Traverse 2.5L procedure says counterclockwise. Match the exact model and engine before releasing tension or ordering a belt.

2024 Traverse and Traverse Limited use different procedures

The checked 2024 Traverse LT FWD 2.5L LK0 calls its belt the accessory drive primary belt. Its removal and installation leaves say to turn the tensioner counterclockwise, and show air-cleaner access and a final check that the belt is centered on every pulley. The checked 2024 Traverse Limited LT FWD 3.6L LFY has a separate drive-belt procedure that says clockwise. Do not use the Limited diagram or direction on the redesigned 2.5L vehicle.

Before selecting a replacement belt

Confirm the year, whether the vehicle is a Traverse or Traverse Limited, engine code and accessory equipment. Use the exact routing figure and service leaf. A noisy belt can also point to a tensioner, idler or accessory fault; inspect and diagnose those parts before replacing them. The checked leaves do not supply a universal belt length, rib count or mandatory replacement interval.

This is a search for the 2018 Traverse RS 2.0L LTG, whose separate routing and replacement leaf is linked above. Search results are not verified parts. Confirm the VIN, equipment, belt listing and route before buying; do not use this search for the 3.6L or 2024 models.
